Outdated phone number? Maybe you never verified your listing to begin with. You could be losing valuable clients right NOW. To make sure you’re on top of your game, use the following steps to help your customers help you…

1. Google Yourself

It seems easy enough, but most times individuals don’t thoroughly search themselves. Not only should you search yourself on Google, but you should also test out Bing and Yahoo. Don’t forget to double check reviews, directories, and contact information. Is everything correct? What about the directions to get to your establishment? Make sure to also search yourself on mobile devices and tablets to ensure optimum accuracy (Hey… we never said this would be easy!)

2. Check Your Listings 

www.getlisted.org is an easy (and free) tool to get an idea on how your business listings are doing. Just input your business name and zip code, and it’ll give you your listing score. Your score is based on the number of search listings you’ve claimed and verified. It also shows you where each listing is lacking and where you still need to claim a listing. This is the perfect stepping stone to start amplifying your online presence.

3. Fix It!

Now that you know what you need to fix… make the changes! Make sure your contact information is consistent across the channels. For example, “Main Street North” is not the same as “North Main Street”. We recommend writing your information onto a Word Doc, and copy and pasting your information into each listing. When verifying your business, make sure to keep an eye out for an email confirmation, or stay close to your phone. Most sites will either call or email to make sure it is truly your business you’re trying to verify.

4. Stay Up to Date

Now that everything is up to date, make sure it stays that way! Every time you move locations, change your hours or get a new phone number; make it a habit to update every one of your listings. It’s tedious, but it will help you immensely in the long run. We keep a running list of all our directory listings and online member sites where Fingerprint Marketing is listed and check quarterly.
